British singer-songwriter Michael Kiwanuka stopped in Auckland for a brief promo visit on his way to Australia. Kiwanuka’s debut album, Home Again, is being hailed as one of the year’s best, drawing comparisons to Bill Withers. A handful of lucky fans caught a brief performance by Michael and is bass-playing buddy “Pete” at a small venue on Ponsonby Road Friday night. The 13th Floor was there to witness the six-song set, which was very impressive. Here’s a video clip of Michael Kiwanuka performing Rest in Auckland:

That’s lucky, changed my mind anyway, thought that maybe there’s more to life than Kiwanuka (he’s pretty much the greatest thing though)…sucks to be the public though aye?
Can’t believe he came here, and I missed him, sooo gutted…I might go shoot myself now…was the show advertised?
Spare yourself…it was a private, promo showcase. Not open to the public.
