I don’t know what they put in the water in Austin, Texas, but whatever it is; it sure helps sustain an amazing amount of high-quality singer-songwriters. Jimmy LaFave has been living in Austin since the early 1980s, long enough, evidently to soak up all of the inspiration the town has to offer and eventually become a fantastic artist. Many felt his previous album, 2007’s Cimarron Manifesto, was a career high-point, but he’s gone on to make an even more consistently excellent record with Depending On The Distance.
