Mott the Hoople 1973
All the Way to London
In October of 2009 thousands of Mott The Hoople fans descended on London to attend the 5 reunion shows taking place at the Hammersmith.
Of course the music was great, but so was meeting so many fellow Mott fans. While I was there I interviewed members of the band (Verden Allen & Ian Hunter), ex-members (Morgan Fisher), famous fans (Mick Jones) and many fans who travelled from around the planet.
I then put a programme together for Radio New Zealand where I tried to capture what it was like to be there – the sights, sounds and excitement of the event.
Now, you can listen to that programme here:
Photographer Mike Bunyard got some great shots of the shows – check them out here.
Hey Marty, well done…. strange to hear one’s voice and I meant every word I said…it is about the people…people like you who care…..carry the news Duda! It brought back so many great memories and I am not ashamed to have cried when Jupiter played and I still get a lump in my throat every time since October 2009. Cheers from Heidelberg Germany, Jan
Marty,
Just an incredible programme. I loved being in the moment then, and this brings all the magic, the tears and the joy right back! Thanks so much for sharing it with us. Carry the news, Duda!
Awww hell, I started tearing up listening to all of you and remembering back to two years ago..right up in front with Connie. Thank you for bringing it all back. Can we all do it again?

I was fortuate enough to be at three of the five Hammersmith shows (front row 1st night!) and the second warm up gig in Monmouth so this bought back great memories, a job well done, Steve
Only 4 comments? Come on you lot! I just listened to this before flying to the USA tomorrow from Japan, and it has put me in a wonderful mood, reliving the joys of Mottober. Really nice job, you guys!

Thank you Marty ===> Manfred
Great job Marty, wish I’d made the interview but I do remember that after the show when someone had a microphone in my face I’d had a few pints and didn’t make much sense. The greatest week of my life bar none, seeing, on any given day, the greatest rock n roll band in the world. I was holding back the tears listening to this interview but at the shows I was crying like a baby right along with everyone else. Every one of the people from all corners of the earth that I’d been in chat groups with turned out to be the greatest bunch of amazing people I’d ever met. Thank you Mott The Hoople, and thank you to all of you I can now call friends.
