13th Floor New Song Of The Day: Boom! Boom! Deluxe – Slap That Bottom
Its Rockabilly music Kiwi-style! Boom! Boom! Deluxe preview their upcoming new album with their sizzling new single, Slap That Bottom.
The new album, TeenageJuvenileDelinquentRocknRollHorrorBeachParty! is due out on March 29th via Plan 9 Trash Records. Here’s the record company blurb:
Written and sung by their iconic Double Bass player and pin-up star Hettie Labombe,
‘Slap That Bottom’ is a sassy, tongue ‘n’ cheek, rock n’ roll romp!
Hettie is also an award-winning documentary maker, her concept for the accompanying video emphasising the female empowerment aspect of Rockabilly and pin-up, especially within the NZ scene. No matter the size, shape, age or sexual orientation of the participant, the pin-up scene is supportive and accepting. She also wanted to show a strong female “character” within the song, as opposed to the more normal male “leading role”.
Slap bass is typical for rockabilly players, so ‘Slap That Bottom’ not only references playing rockabilly bass but also, well the obvious!
Boom! Boom! Deluxe serves up a mix of incredibly catchy original songs, authentic high energy ’50s rock ‘n’ roll seasoned with a selection of surprising modern classics, all given a delightful retro twist.
Boom! Boom! Deluxe has been touring constantly over the past few years, performing at virtually every major event including Beach Hop, Muscle Car Madness, The Very Vintage Day Out, Rockabilly Show & Shine and the Kaikoura Hop.
Their new album, TeenageJuvenileDelinquentRocknRollHorrorBeachParty! was recorded at The Depot in Auckland and mastered by Jonathan Pearce (The Beths), and is due for release on March 29th 2019.
