13th Floor New Song Of the Day: Eyreton Hall – Albatross

Eyreton Hall have released the third single from their upcoming album, Spaces, due out May 24th.

The song is titled Albatross, and no, it’s not a cover of the Fleetwood Mac classic. Here’s the record company blurb with more details:

Eyreton Hall share a vividly cinematic music video for new single ‘Albatross’, in preparation for the release of their upcoming sophomore album Spaces, due out May 24th, 2019. The video, directed by Jared Kahi, features breathtakingly beautiful footage of the expansive coastlines of New Zealand.

Written in dedication to their youngest son Orlie, ‘Albatross’ once again solidifies Eyreton Hall as masters of sophisticated, yet unassuming and emotionally potent songwriting. Exquisite lyricism and a sweeping instrumental arrangement, paired incredible scenery make for a deeply moving and uplifting musical experience. Dynamic shots of the South Island coastline allow viewers to soar above the Tasman, weightless and gliding through Eyreton Hall’s weaving narrative.
‘Albatross’ is the third single from Auckland-based duo Eyreton Hall’s upcoming album Spaces, out later this month. Eyreton Hall is comprised of husband and wife team Toni Randle and Andrew Keegan, whose 2014 debut album Featherstitch received praise from niche blogs and music reviewers from many corners of the globe. Spaces sees Eyreton Hall tackle ever-evolving themes of loss and grief, alongside threads of new hope, healing and love that run parallel throughout this cathartic record.

Spaces was mixed by Simon Gooding (Neil Finn, P!nk) and mastered by Howard Rogers (Bring It On Studios), with renowned New Zealand musicians playing on the album such as Tim Randle (Stormporter), Mark Hughes (Tim Finn, Bic Runga, Dave Dobbyn) and Sam Taylor (who has played for Nadia Reid).
