NZIFF 51: Watch: Simon Coldrick Discusses By The Balls at The 13th Floor

Simon Coldrick has already put together an impressive list of Kiwi documentaries he’s either directed or edited, including David Farrier’s Tickled, The Day That Changed My Life, which covered the Christchurch earthquakes, and Erebus: Operation Overdue.

His latest film, which he co-directed with Charlotte Purdy, is called By The Balls, and it focuses on the All Blacks, specifically between 1985 to 1985 when the team was struggling to come to terms with issues such as South Africa’s Apartheid and France’s involvement in the Rainbow Warrior tragedy, while simultaneously trying to win the first Rugby World Cup.

Simon stopped by The 13th Floor to talk to Marty Duda about making the film, just before it makes it premiere at The ASB Waterfront Theatre this evening.
