R.I.P. Helen Reddy
Sad to report that Australian singer Helen Reddy has died, age 78.
Reddy is best remembered for her 1972 hit, I Am Woman, but dig a little deeper and you’ll uncover a treasure trove of classic 70s pop, some with a slightly dark turn such as Angie Baby, Delta Dawn and Somewhere In The Night.
And if anyone doubts Helen Reddy’s influence, I was interviewing Courtney Constantinou of Melbourne band Goldminds earlier this week and Helen Reddy came up in conversation. Then later that day I received an invite to attend a screening of a new film, I Am Woman
So, sadly it seems Helen’s time has come and then gone.
