Ladies and gentlemen, The 13th Floor proudly presents Part 1 of our epic interview with King Khan.
Coming to us from Berlin, Khan discusses his new album, The Infinite Ones, which includes collaborations with Marshall Allen and Knoel Scott of the Sun Ra Arkestra along with members of Calexico.
Until now, King Khan has made his reputation making sleazy garage rock with bands like The Shrines and The Almighty Defenders. Now, space is the place!
The 13th Floor’s Marty Duda spoke to Khan (at length) about the album and all the other project Khan has on his plate. With so much going on, we’ve split the interview in two parts.
Part one touches on The Infinite Ones and Khan’s relationship to Sun Ra’s music…but the topic quickly jumps to everything from politics to breastfeeding to 52 pickup. We begin this freewheeling conversation with an introduction to Khan’s new stand-up bass.
