13th Floor New Song Of The Day: Dolphin Friendly – Killing Silence
Today we bring you new music from Christchurch band Dolphin Friendly and their new song/video Killing Silence.
Need to know more? Here’s the record company blurb:
Dolphin Friendly are a hard-hitting coastal psych-rock band who have become a force on the New Zealand musical landscape, with this latest politically charged single set to take them to new heights.
With media likening them to acts like Ocean Alley, Skegss and Bootleg Rascal, they’ve become a regular touring act on the live scene over the past two years, supporting Shapeshifter, Skegss, L.A.B., Bootleg Rascal and Lime Cordiale, and appearing at festivals Rhythm and Vines, Electric Avenue and Soundsplash. The release of ‘Killing Silence’ coincides with a national headline tour, followed by a strong summer festival run.
Here’s a word about the song:
“Like most of our music, Killing Silence came to fruition as we acted on a strong feeling we felt as a band. The song is our way of acknowledging the existence of systemic racism around the world (and in New Zealand and Australia) vocalising how we think we can act in a more understanding way as society by accepting hurt and hardship, guiding us to a movement and awakening of greater unity.
Although the song rides a wave positive change through its euphoric chorus’s, the rap and heavy rock counterparts speak anger for the people in the present. Ultimately, we promote messages for the better of the world, we just write music to avenue it”.
