New Song Of The Day: LearningToDive – Promenade

Start your Monday off with this new one from LearningToDive…its called Promenade.

Wellington’s LearningToDive can also be recognised as the alter-ego of producer & vocalist Bravo Bonez. With a new album on the way, here’s the record company blurb:

LearningToDivePromenade is the 5th single from Bravo Bonez’s LearningToDive ‘80s-influenced musical identity It is the final single ahead of the launch of his debut album “Norwegian Pop” (released 02/04/21).  LearningToDive (LTD) captures some of Bravo’s more serious thoughts on society, the planet and life. Quite distinct from his usual upbeat, retro, lo-fi focused tones, LTD explores alternative themes using darker more complex layers, blending genres of post-punk, 80’s-pop and new-wave.

 “Promenade” Backstory

Promenade tells the story of two imaginary people who live in London and work close to Hyde Park. They often see each other from afar while walking in the park and naturally feel drawn to each other. They start going on their lunch time walks together, and eventually see each other more regularly. But the relationship is doomed.

Promenade explores the age-old problem of two people that love each other but cannot be together. Although in unsatisfied relationships, our protagonists cannot lie to their partners and their guilt weighs on their relationship, causing it to fall apart. Even though they have chosen to be apart, deep down they still love each other. The song is a sad reflection on the truth, that as humans we can love more than one person at once, but in most relationships, you can really only be with one. And choices have to be made.

‘Norwegian Pop’ Album (April 2nd release) This eight-track album is a love letter to 1980’s musical genres, principally post-punk, synth-pop, new-wave and the New-Romantic movement. In this album, Bravo Bonez explores personal, political and societal ideas addressing themes of hope, betrayal, danger and age.
