They are Blue River Baby or BRBB for short and this is their brand new video for their brand new song, Pay.

BRBB are from Wellington and Pay features what they call a “fresh new sound” for the band. Here’s the record company blurb with more:

Off the back of their debut album which topped the NZ Indie (IMNZ)Top 20 Album Chart and reached number eight on the Official NZ Music Top 20 Album Chart in 2019, BRBB are excited to be  back with another catchy track and their epic live shows, with their new single, “PAY”! Released on July 2nd with a second full-length album to follow in 2022, the band has added further depth to their sound, working with a couple of NZs rising stars of production on their new music,  with the single and album produced by Toby Lloyd (Shapeshifter, Hollie Smith, Rob Ruha) and mastered by Chris Chetland at Kog Studios.

Based out of Pōneke BRBB is a talented original,  pop/funk/rock outfit that’s intent on going stellar with their signature mix of outstanding musicianship, righteous vocals, and tightly focused songwriting. They’ve recently managed to go viral on TikTok and YouTube with 500,000 combined plays.

PAY was recorded, engineered, mixed and produced between the Surgery Studios Wellington and Tiny Triumph Recordings by Toby Lloyd and introduces a fresh new sound and direction for the band. The catchy single also features Barrett Hocking from ‘The Black Seeds’ on trumpet and is the first single featuring the stunning vocals of Ree Thomson, the bands exceptionally talented, new vocalist. Ree is a soaring, dynamic vocalist capable of connecting and captivating any audience in the world and getting them up and moving.

So what’s PAY about? Here’s REE vocalist and songwriter. “PAY …when you first start to understand you’re worth it can be freeing and empowering, learning that you can’t rely on someone else for life fulfilment and happiness. Pay is a song of someone demanding that they receive the treatment and love they deserve”.
