Connie Smith – The Cry Of The Heart: Interview
Connie Smith is a genuine country music legend having been inducted in the CMA Hall Of Fame in 2012 and a member of the Grand Old Opry since 1965. Here she is to tell us about her latest album, The Cry Of The Heart.
The 13th Floor’s Marty Duda was thrilled to be talking to Connie Smith. Her new album, The Cry Of The Heart, was produced by hubby Marty Stuart and released on Fat Possum Records last year.
Connie has been making records since 1964 with her debut single, Once A Day becoming her signature song. Since then she has been a consistent hitmaker and performer and you’ll see see, at age 80, is still going strong.
Both Marty and Connie were struck with Covid last year, but both have recovered. When the 13th Floor spoke to Connie, she was just about to perform at the Grand Ol Opry.
A note: one of the new album’s songs, I Just Don’t Believe Me Anymore, was written by veteran songwriter Dallas Frazier (Alley Oop, Elvira). Sadly Dallas passed away just after this interview took place.
