Effortlessly cool and showcasing Sandy’s impeccable vocal, ‘Socials’ delves into the relatable topic of social media and its often-toxic nature.

“It’s become a necessary tool in everyone’s life, especially in the life of an artist,” she says.  “It’s a love/hate relationship. Some people embrace it, but many of us find it hard work, eating into creative and personal time.”

Released under London’s beloved soulful dance imprints, Chillifunk Records, ‘Socials’ aptly comes as the iconic label celebrates its 25^th anniversary, making way for a plethora of new releases as well as a move to have the label’s long lost back catalogue available online.

‘Socials’ was part of a ’30 songs in 30 days’ exercise for Sandy. After working on the demo while teaching herself Logic Pro, she then called on her friend Jeremy Toy (Leonard Charles). “He’s a seasoned producer/guitarist, songwriter and vinyl junkie like me. We both have broad taste in music, which helps in the process.” From there, two more legends joined the party, including engineer/producer/musician Tom Healy and drummer Adam Tobeck.

With bragging rights in collaboration with legends such as Pitch Black, Dick Johnson, Epsilon Blue, Neil Finn, Sean Donnelly (SJD), Don McGlashan, Basement Jaxx, Placebo, Boy George, and Notenshun – to name a few (plus her profile with former bands New Telepathics and Spacesuit) – Sandy Mill is one New Zealand’s most respected talents.

Her 2018 debut EP, A PIECE OF ME, hit the NZ Top 20; and the same year Sandywas a finalist for Best Female Solo Artist at the Waiata Māori Music Awards.
