Aotearoa (New Zealand) born, musician Kelly Sherrod is Proteins of Magic. Today sees the release of her single ‘Lethal’.

Kelly co-wrote ‘Lethal’ with Matthew Sherrod (BECK, Macy Gray, Charlotte Gainsbourg), in the woods of Nashville, during a brutal summer heat-wave where the natural environment can feel both nurturing and perilous.

Kelly explains “Lethal is a meditation on the feeling of being empowered even in the face of negative forces.”

These are the surroundings that Proteins Of Magic thrives in.

The ‘Lethal’ music video was directed, filmed, animated and edited by US artist Rory White and made with support from NZ On Air.

The single has already garnered support from RDU, Radio One, bFM and Radio Active on which Kelly will perform a live session today.

Living between Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland and Nashville, Tennessee, Kelly is a multi-faceted artist working across both audio and visual formats. She writes, produces and performs all of her music, creates visual worlds from claymation to digital art and has played and toured with Dimmer and Oscar & Grammy winner Ryan Bingham. Through her work she blurs the boundaries between innovative alt-pop and contemporary art music, bringing into existence a world that is uniquely her own.

Proteins of Magic is the support act for the September 2022 eight date National NZ Dimmer Tour, which will be followed by her first headlining National NZ tour in October 2022. This kicks off today down in Wellington at Pyramid Club, ticket links below.
