Tom Verlaine of New York City band Television, has died at age 73 after a brief illness.

Tom Verlaine formed Television in 1973 with Richard Hell. By the time the band’s groundbreaking debut album, Marquee Moon, was released in 1977, Hell was out and Richard Lloyd was on board as Verlaine’s guitar-slinging foil.
