Working alongside Greg Haver, Clint Murphy and Ryan Smith, It’s Not Your Fault explores the breaking point in a dysfunctional relationship. Taking influence from The Strokes and Harry Styles, It’s Not Your Fault is a high-energy, anthemic track that hits hard both musically and lyrically.

The song strikes a balance of New York garage rock elements with modern pop sensibilities.

“It touches on broken promises, resentment, and the frustrations that follow. But ultimately, it speaks to a deep desire to be together even when it doesn’t make sense.” says the band.

After opening for Drax Project at the James Hay Theatre, Castaway are looking towards the fourth release of their sophomore EP, Nondual. The band are ready to bring their infectious pop-rock energy to Aotearoa listeners and carve their name into the NZ music scene with a nationwide tour at the end of 2024.

Charged with an electrifying fusion of pop and rock, Ōtautahi band Castaway bring a captivating high-energy show to any stage they come across. The band met in their first year at university, as fate brought the 5 boys from all across the country to the same hall of residence.

Years on, the band lives and breathes music from their flat in Ōtautahi. When they aren’t chasing each other up for not unloading the dishwasher or sharing a delicious meal at the dinner table, they are hard at work on their new EP. Following a string of singles achieving radio play on ZM, Hauraki, RNZ, and The Edge, It’s Not Your Fault is the fourth of six songs to be released in 2024, setting the stage for one of Castaway’s biggest years yet.
