Slimivich & Throng- Wound Tight: 13th Floor New Song Of The Day

Sit back and let deep reaching bass, over saturated synth, strings and slick lyrical licks wash over you as Ōtautahi’s finest Grim Hop heads Slim Jenkins of Slimivich and Aaron Hogg of Throng serve up their inaugural collaborative audio visual track, Wound Tight.

Here’s the blurb with more:

SlimivichA luscious vibrating track riven with hip hop, downbeat and and ambient influences, Wound Tight expresses the deep need to commune with the natural world through intense physical exertion in an effort to achieve quiet in  a mind wound tight by the trials of life in our late capitalist world.

Accompanying the track is the full length music video directed by Luis Castanon, shot by Bevan Triebels and leveraging Aaron’s digital arts skill set. Contrasting lush landscapes with harsh studio footage the team blends performance, which constitutes the very core of the artists musical experience, with imagery of the natural spaces that help keep them centered, functioning human beings.

Wound Tight marks the first in a series of collaborative tracks from Slimivich and Throng seeking to explore Grim Hop, where these artists roots in Aotearoa rock, punk and metal intersects with Hip Hop, Drum & Bass, Breaks and IDM.

So relax, listen and unwind, and let Wound Tight be just what you need to calm the scream in your mind wound tight.

Slimivich

Slimivich

SLIMIVICH is  the finest Ōtautahi grim-hop. The latest sonic expression of barely suppressed rage from seasoned Aotearoa heavy music veterans Slim Jenkins and Mo Galloway, Slimivich doesn’t explode like their previous work, instead it radiates and crackles with all the allure of overloaded high voltage circuits glowing and arcing in the dark. With harsh lyrical licks cut over over the relentless punishment of pounding drums, searing synth and grueling bass, Slimivich seeks to explore the varying textures of what should be considered “heavy” music.

Believing whole heartedly that where fans connect with acts in the crush of a live show truly is “Peak Music”, the absolute ultimate human experience of music, the boys have taken their show on the road with purpose. Having slung the nation wide ‘Grind Tour’ on their belts and slammed out both a South Island tiny tour and Tamaki Makaurau tiny tour, Slimivich can claim the rare achievement of having hammered out more shows around the motu than in their hometown of Ōtautahi Chirstchurch.

With the singles, Desert Shimmer, Hysteria and Grind now grabbing unsuspecting fans by the throat and the fresh collaboration with fellow Ōtautahi Grim Hop heavy hitter THRONG entitled Wound Tight loaded in the breach for release, the remainder of 2024 will see Slim and Mo tracking the last vital elements of their debut full length album, continued collaboration with fellow Grim Hop project Throng, a visit to throw down what the have down in Golden Bay and an appearance at Rad Fest in hometown Ōtautahi.

Remember the name SLIMIVICH – No Chill.
