Lorenzo Hazelwood – 13th Floor” December 13, 2024

Lorenzo Hazelwood celebrated the release of his latest single, Bleed You Of Me, with a solo, acoustic show at The 13^th Floor.

Yep…it was Friday The 13^th at the 13^th Floor and about 50 lucky fans caught Lorenzo at his most intimate, most powerful and most intense.

In addition to his solo stuff, Lorenzo is the voice of Silcrow, the Kiwi grunge band that released a 7-track self-titled LP/EP earlier this year. But Lorenzo has been nursing a concurrent solo career since 2020.

We got to know Lorenzo and Silcrow when they recorded a couple of their music videos at our studio and Lorenzo when he recorded a solo 13^th Floor Singles Session at this same venue last year.

So, it was a bit of a homecoming for Lorenzo as he put a full stop to 2024 with this, his final performance of the year.

The room was full, drinks were flowing and the holiday season was definitely in the air as Hazelwood strapped on his acoustic guitar, stepped up to the mic and began his 75 minute set with Ennui, a track from his 2022 EP, Vol. 3.

That distinctive voice sounded powerful, especially as driven by the PA…yes, this was acoustic, but it was also loud.

Of the 14 songs eventually played many were brand new, so the audience was again lucky, lucky to hear these songs for the first time, and the reaction was more than favourable.

“That’s your best song!” someone shouted out after Blood On My Hands, and, indeed, they may be right.

Along with Lorenzo’s own songs, he sprinkled in a few well-chosen covers with an encore that brought us Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Simple Man and Nickelback’s How You Remind Me.

Yes, that’s right, a Nickelback song was heard at The 13^th Floor and everyone was singing along! Will wonders never cease? 2025 is looking good for Lorenzo Hazelwood. And we were lucky to host his 2024 farewell.
