Roberta Flack Has Died At Age 88: R.I.P.
We’ve lost another soul giant…Roberta Flack has died at the age of 88. Roberta is known for hits like The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, Where Is The Love and Killing Me Softly With His Song.
Roberta was “discovered” by jazz pianist Les McCann in 1969 leading to a contract with Atlantic Records and her debut album, First Take, released in 1970. The album featured her stunning version of Ewan MacColl’s The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, which, when used the following year in Clint Eastwood’s film, Play Misty For Me, would earn the singer her first of two consecutive Grammys…the other was for Killing Me Softly With His Song.

Flack also recorded duets with Donny Hathaway resulting in hits like Where Is The Love and The Closer I Get To You.
