Foley – Suckerpunch: 13th Floor New Song Of The Day

Aotearoa Music Award finalists Foley are back with new music just in time for summer – the euphoric, indie-pop tune Suckerpunch.

Here is the blurb with more:

It’s been another big year for Foley, after the release of their critically acclaimed album THAT’S LIFE, BABY! earned the NZ-born, Sydney-based duo a nomination for ‘Best Group’ at the 2025 AMAs. The album was also #50 on Rolling Stone AU/NZ’s ‘80 Best New Zealand Albums of the 2020s So Far’.

They’re now following up the success of their sophomore album with the new tune ‘Suckerpunch’ – a rose-tinted, pop gem, co-written by Foley (Ash Wallace and Gabriel Everett) and Josh Naley (AKA *Wells). It was mixed by Pedro Calloni (Chappel Roan, Alex Warren, ELIO) and mastered by Grammy-nominated Nathan Dantzler (Sabrina Carpenter, Niall Horan, Jonas Brothers, Teddy Swims).

Suckerpunch’ explores the age-old cycle of a hopeless romantic seeking love. “Out of the blue break-ups hit you like a train; then you get back on the horse and do it all again. Each and every time, the loss of love is unexpected and gut wrenching, but for someone who is determined to find real and passionate love, it’s worth the suckerpunch,” explains Foley.

The new song signals a shift in sonics for the duo. “We are reaching back through our musical influences and creating something new. It’s both a modern take on the music and albums that raised us in the early 2000s and a reflective escape from modernity.”

Accompanying the song is a visualiser made by Harley Jones. “It captures the feeling of letting it all out at a karaoke bar with your best friends after being dumped. Late night, euphoric and pure emotion!”

Suckerpunch arrives as Foley prepares for their first Asian tour, which will include a performance at Zandari Fest in Seoul, and shows with Paige and Nat Vazer.
