Bridges – Life Of The Party: 13th Floor New Song Of The Day
One of Aotearoa’s most exciting new indie-pop acts, Bridges, has upped the ante with today’s release of the epic Life Of the Party.
Here is the blurb with more:
Life Of The Party is the final single ahead of Bridges’ second EP, set for release in early 2026 and reinforces why the Tāmaki Makaurau-based artist is ‘one to watch’.

Big and bold, yet vulnerable, Life Of The Party is a pop piano ballad, which takes the listener on a journey through delicate verses to soaring choruses and melodic hooks for days.
“I wrote the pre-chorus and chorus for this originally on acoustic guitar, alone in my bedroom. I then fleshed out the production ideas myself in Logic, which is what inspired the verses. It’s that demo I then took to Joel Jones, who built on those production ideas to create the final song,” says Bridges.
Life Of The Party showcases the depth of Bridges’ songwriting and her knack for layering catchy indie-pop tunes with powerful, relatable lyrics.
“It’s about social anxiety – forcing yourself out of the house to be social, getting to the party, and realising you’re so stuck in your head you’re an anxious mess. BUT! you’re so practiced at covering it up, making jokes, being the ‘life of the party’, nobody can tell how anxious you are,” says Bridges.
“The song explores the juxtaposition of being super upbeat, with undertones of anxiety and sadness. We love a sad banger! I hope Life Of The Party finds the people who can relate to this feeling, and helps put words to something that can be hard to talk about, or acknowledge even to yourself,” she adds.
Life Of The Party follows the singles ‘Lungs’ and ‘Close To You’, which will all feature on Bridges’ highly anticipated second EP – a vulnerable and deeply personal body of work, in which the singer and songwriter opens up about her own mental health journey. The EP will be released in early 2026.

Bridges is the artist project of Christchurch-born, Auckland-based songwriter Rachel Hamilton. Her 2023 debut EP was met with acclaim and featured on MTV, Coup de Main, The Hits, Radio Hauraki’s Locals Only Podcast, Billie Magazine, RNZ and more. The EP’s NZ On Air-funded singles ‘Pills’ and ‘Misfits’ quickly gained traction; ‘Pills’ being playlisted on Spotify’s ‘Fresh Finds Pop’ (200k), ‘The Local List Aotearoa’ (18k) and ‘Fresh Finds AU & NZ’ (18k).
In 2024, Bridges was selected to be mentored by Fazerdaze via the APRA Aotearoa Mentorship Programme; then chosen as a showcasing artist at the 2024 Going Global Music Summit. This year, she performed a stirring version of her song ‘Close To You’ on ZM’s Acoustic Corner. The song was also included in Rolling Stone NZ/AU’s ‘Song You Need To Know’ feature.
