Greta Van Den Brink – Alpine State of Mind: 13th Floor New Song Of The Day
Indie-pop artist Greta Van Den Brink has today released Alpine State of Mind – the second single from her forthcoming album This Wasn’t Planned, set to drop in May 2026.
Here is the blurb with more:
Alpine State of Mind is a journey of storytelling and artistry that invites listeners into Greta’s sonic world with open arms.

Her debut track Road to Hell unexpectedly found its way onto a Netflix soundtrack, setting the tone for a career she never planned – but now can’t live without. Greta’s music blends cinematic storytelling with emotional rawness, ranging from the haunting Swimming on a Spoon to the bright indie-pop of U+I. Every song feels like a world of its own – visceral, vivid, and deeply personal.
Alpine State of Mind was written in a way that felt like chasing a forest nymph through the woods – half-lost, half-enchanted, being shown strange objects, only to be told not to get distracted. Van Den Brink describes her as “also, somehow, a stripper. Unpeeling layers of herself and vanishing deeper into the trees. That has nothing to do with the way the song sounds, but it’s how it felt writing it”.
Sonically, it lives somewhere misty and mountainous – giving a feel of the Appalachians in late October – where someone has wandered too far into themselves and can’t quite find the way out. The track explores feelings of losing your grip emotionally, physically, spiritually. It builds slowly, then hits hard – like a prayer screamed through gritted teeth. Greta also shares “There’s something raw and off-kilter in it, like your footing isn’t quite right, and then suddenly you’re shouting into the void, hoping someone hears you. Or maybe just hoping you do.”
Alpine State of Mind and Greta’s existing catalogue isn’t just a collection of songs – it’s an invitation into her world. One that’s wild, cinematic, and undeniably hers. Early listeners are going to want to stick around to see what’s next.
