Sophie Aston – Better: 13th Floor New Song Of The Day

Waiheke-based singer songwriter Sophie Aston is making her debut as an artist with the release of her first single Better.

Here is the blurb with more:

Better is a bold debut single exploring female rage, self doubt, and society’s impact on how women move in the world.

Originally from the United Kingdom, Sophie has spent the past five years performing across Tāmaki Makaurau both solo and with her covers band. The release marks a new chapter in her career as she begins sharing her own material with audiences in New Zealand and beyond.

Better was produced, mixed and mastered by Scott Seabright at his home studio. The single introduces Sophie’s distinct alt-pop/rock sound, shaped by her background in live performance and her focus on honest, reflective songwriting. The track explores themes of female rage, self doubt and the pressures placed on women by modern society, marking a confident first step into her artistic identity.

“Writing Better was very cathartic,” says Sophie. “It’s the culmination of years of frustration and never feeling enough.”

Following the release, Sophie will continue developing new material that builds on the themes introduced in Better. Her next single is planned for early 2026, with an EP in progress. She will also appear at summer events across Auckland and Waiheke, giving audiences an early preview of her upcoming work.
