Yumi Zouma – Phoebe’s Song: 13th Floor New Song Of The Day

International indie-rock innovators Yumi Zouma deliver a boldly romantic, heartfelt new single, Phoebe’s Song, dedicated to Josh Burgess‘ love for his partner, Phoebe.

Here is the blurb with more:

To celebrate the news, the band is excited to announce an upcoming spring 2026 North American headline tour starting April 30 at Black Cat in Washington D.C., while making stops in New York at Warsaw on May 2Chicago at Outset on May 8Los Angeles at Pacific Electric on May 19, and finishing up in San Diego at Belly Up on May 20. More information can be found here.

Phoebe’s Song radiates warmth, perfectly capturing budding intimacy’s sweet, cinematic fantasies: “making movies in the back of my head.” Christie Simpson’s weaving vocals, blending seamlessly between lead, backing vocals, and harmonies, evoke the thrilling sensation of willingly losing oneself, as one often does in the throes of love.

Sonically, the track ventures confidently into expansive guitar territories reminiscent of Built to Spill’s textured walls of sound, infused with choruses that shimmer with Johnny Marr-esque jangle. Drummer Olivia Campion’s intricate, baroque-inspired fills lend a compelling power-pop flourish alongside Charlie Ryder’s exemplary guitar playing. A charmingly nostalgic Nokia ringtone punctuates the first chorus – an affectionate wink to modern romance – before an audacious key change propels the finale into early-2000s teen-movie euphoria.

Josh Burgess of Yumi Zouma shares, “Phoebe’s Song” is a real outlier in our catalogue. We honestly don’t have many love songs! It’s a bold testament to our love, but also a small window into the joy of coexisting with your person. Shout out to the “Uncleared” Nokia ringtone. Thank you, YouTube. Thank you, Phoebe. Thank you, world, for sharing this love. One love.”

Phoebe’s Song is the latest single from Yumi Zouma’s upcoming  album, No Love Lost To Kindnesswhich will be released on January 30, 2026, via Nettwerk.  Recorded in Mexico City, where the band was assembled in 2023 for writing sessions, they shine as a collective and as individual players across the album’s 12 tracks, which guitarists Josh Burgess and Charlie Ryder produced. As Yumi Zouma continues to evolve and celebrate over a decade together, their latest songs show what any long-distance band knows is true: time-zone challenges are simply no match for chemistry.

No Love Lost To Kindness marks a turning point for Yumi Zouma—both sonically and emotionally. Departing from the shimmering dream-pop of earlier records, Yumi Zouma pursued a rawer, heavier sound.

Phoebe’s Song” follows up on the success of previous 2025 singles “Drag,” Cross My Heart and Hope To Die,” Blister,” and Bashville on the Sugar,” the band’s unruly first single on Nettwerk, which introduced this fearless new chapter ahead. Stay tuned for more new music and news from Yumi Zouma this year and beyond.

ABOUT YUMI ZOUMA:

Composed of members Christie Simpson (vocals, keyboards), Josh Burgess (guitar, bass, vocals, keyboards), Charlie Ryder (guitar, bass, keyboards), and Olivia Campion (drums), Yumi Zouma originally joined forces in 2013. While all New Zealanders, the four members have always lived separately in different cities, with Christie based in Melbourne, Charlie in London, Josh in New York, and Olivia in Wellington.

Yumi Zouma’s storied career has spanned over an entire decade – from the shoegaze and dream-pop of their first EP, EP I, and the blogosphere ubiquity of the early single “A Long Walk Home For Parted Lovers” in 2014, to the synth pop of their debut LP, Yoncalla, tours with Lorde, Jamie xx, and Magdalena Bay, global support from Pitchfork, Stereogum, Consequence of Sound, The FADER, SPIN, The Guardian, and radio spins from SiriusXM and Triple J. Following four EPs and four prior albums (2016’s Yoncalla, 2017’s Willowbank, 2020’s Truth or Consequences, and 2022’s Present Tense), Yumi Zouma is ready to catapult into the next decade of their career with their forthcoming release on Nettwerk
