Here is the blurb with more:

Tāmaki Makaurau indie folk band hoop. return with their second single End Before the Start, taken from the forthcoming mini-album Wrap Me Up in Winter (out November 2025).

The song explores the emotional weight and dilemma associated with knowing your future — a theme sparked after Nick Edgar watched a film where a character sees the full arc of their life in advance. “It got me thinking — is that knowledge a gift, or a curse?” he reflects.

Nick leads the track with vocals, electric guitar and Hammond organ. Al Baxter adds banjo, slide guitar, and harmonica, showcasing the band’s hallmark blend of instrumentation and harmony. Anchored by the tight rhythm section of Rusty Knox (drums) and Glenn Coldham (bass), the track features Emily Allen’s haunting violin arrangement weaving throughout the arrangement with cinematic flair.

End Before the Start is a contemplative yet toe-tapping track, combining deep lyrical storytelling with hoop.’s signature acoustic textures and dynamic ensemble playing.

End Before the Start is out now on all major streaming platforms.
