MC50 – 10 MORE (earMUSIC) (13th Floor Album Review)
MC5, essentially just Wayne Kramer, follow on from last year’s album – Heavy Lifting, with a live album; MC50 – 10 More.
Recorded during their 2018 ‘Kick Out The Jams’ Anniversary tour, featuring a band made up of heavyweights including Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Brendan Canty (Fugazi), Billy Gould (Faith No More) and Matt Cameron (Pearl Jam).
Glancing at the track listing sees mostly songs from the classic albums: Kick Out The Jams, Back In The USA and High Time, no new material, barring a cover of Ray Charles – I Believe To My Soul, which the original MC5 used to include in their live sets.

It needs to be noted that truly, over the 10 slices, there are stand out recordings and versions: Rocket Reducer No. 62 (Rama Lama Fa-Fa-Fa) and Looking at You certainly capture the taonga of seeing MC5 in their heyday, and while American Ruse, Teenage Lust and Skunk also feature, the last song – Starship is a truly, tumultuous and titular end to 10 More – pure energy
In reality MC50 – 10 More is an album for the converted, enamoured, a perfect Xmas gift for the MC5 adoree, and a top notch soundtrack for any road trip.
