Foley – Cinematic: 13th New Song Of The Day

Aotearoa’s favourite pop duo Foley have hit the ground running in 2026; dropping their first single of the year, and announcing their upcoming EP, Like An Actress.

Cinematic follows on from the release of 2025’s ‘Suckerpunch’ and the #1 single ‘Honey’, which spent four weeks on the NZ Top 40 Chart, as well as peaking at #1 on the NZ radioscope chart, and reaching the top 15 of all songs played across NZ radio.

Packed with catchy pop hooks and rooted in powerful synths, driving bass, live drums and guitars, ‘Cinematic’ is a constant tension that builds to an anthemic climax, taking the listener deeper and deeper into the story. And in true Foley style; it’s total euphoria

“Cinematic is about a love so beautiful and promising that you feel like it may not be real – at the start of a relationship the glow around a person can be so overwhelming and you find yourself romanticising everything,” says the band.

“Often we can have that self doubt of ‘is this actually real’, but Cinematic is about embracing that feeling and leaning even further. Kissing in the streets at night, breaking into a stadium, and going home with butterflies in your stomach. It’s nostalgic even in the moment it happens, and you know that this could be encapsulated in a Hollywood movie because it’s so outrageously perfect.”

And speaking of Hollywood, Cinematic is filled with Easter eggs for movie buffs: “We reference Titanic, Casablanca, Interstellar and there are countless other movie related lines that were hilarious. We got quite giddy thinking up more and more ridiculous lines”

The visualiser for Cinematic plays on the first line of the song… “Last night we broke into the stadium”. The visualiser by Harley Jones will be released on January 21.

Cinematic was written by Foley (Ash Wallace and Gabe Everett); produced by Josh Naley (AKA the artist Wells*), mixed by Pedro Calloni (Chappell Roan, ELIO, Alex Warren) and mastered by Grammy-nominated Nathan Dantzler (Sabrina Carpenter, Niall Horan, Jonas Brothers, Teddy Swims).

All three tracks give fans a taste for what’s still on the horizon for Foley, with their next EP LIKE AN ACTRESS out on Wednesday February 25. 
All three singles (‘Suckerpunch’, ‘Honey’ and ‘Cinematic’) feature on the EP, and with groove, feel and genuine true emotion at the heart of the project, fans of the dynamic duo can expect nothing but pure Foley magic.
