Joey Ramone would have been 60 years old this week. The 13th Floor celebrates the birthday of one of rock & roll’s most influential artists by offering you a chance to listen to an interview with Joey and Johnny Ramone recorded on July 7, 1979. The Ramones had just played a show in Rochester, New York and were invited to come up to the studios of WCMF-FM to talk with Marty Duda, who was on the air from midnight to six am. The Ramones had just appeared in the film, Rock & Roll High School and were about to release their album, End Of The Century. Listen in as Joey and Johnny talk about working with Phil Spector, their contempt for disco and heavy metal, and their frustration at being ignored by commercial radio.
