Billed as a no label / no venue arvo show to celebrate the release of Uniform’s Joan St High Tide 7”. Uniform were joined by PWits, AW and finally Cola.
Punk Rock Royalty: England have The Sex Pistols and The Damned, Aotearoa had Suburban Reptiles and Toy Love, Australia The Saints and Radio Birdman, meanwhile North America has/had Dead Kennedys and The Ramones.
Minuit, the Nelson originating trio of Ruth Carr, Paul Dodge and Ryan Beehre, that ditched drums and guitars to embrace electro-beat, break-beat and electronica, closed out their mini-reunion tour at Double Whammy last night.
Otepoti/Dunedin band Pearly* have certainly made a splash since releasing their debut Pearly*EP in April 2024, and wowing crowds at nationwide festivals including Port Noise (March) and Junk Festival (June) both this year.
At Whammy Public Bar, on a cold Wednesday/Raapa evening, Swallow The Rat shared a set that featured almost exclusively new material, plus a few surprises, in anticipation of their 21 date September tour of Europe, which includes shows in France, Germany, Hungary, and an appearance at Misty Fields Festival in the Netherlands.
