Brian Wilson Has Died At Age 82: R.I.P.
Brian Wilson, the creative genius behind The Beach Boys, has died at the age of 82.
In a post shared on Instagram, his family announced Wilson’s death. “We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away,” they wrote. “We are at a loss for words right now. Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world.”
Following closely after the death of Sly Stone, also 82, its been to rough week for music lovers.
Sadly, those who are familiar with the details of Brian Wilson’s life, will know that he put with abuse and exploitation from those who should have been looking out for the troubled musician, including his father and his doctor.
Fortunately, he finally finished what he considered to be his masterpiece, Smile, in 2004. Of course, others, such as Paul McCartney, consider 1966’s Pet Sounds Wilson’s masterpiece. It really doesn’t matter…what does it that Brian Wilson left a legacy of beautiful songs, stunning harmonies and Love & Mercy at the end of his troubled 82 years.
