Acclaimed Austin-based singer-songwriter Jimmy LaFave has passed away just days after appearing an emotional farewell performance. Known for his “Red Dirt Music”, the 61-year-old musician had been recording his heart-felt brand of Americana music since 1979.

Bluesman James Cotton has died, age 81. Cotton’s harmonica playing was a key element to the Chess blues sound. Mr Cotton appeared on recordings with Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf along with his own titles. He formed the James Cotton Blues Band in 1966 and has been blowin’ ever since.
