Deep Creek and Wood Lanes’ New Zealand Music Month Opening Party

Deep Creek and Wood Lane are proud to announce an incredible and eclectic lineup to kick off New Zealand Music Month. Taking place at Deep Creek Brews & Eats in Browns Bay on May 3rd, the party will feature live sets from Magic FactoryHa The UnclearGareth Thomas (Goodshirt) and Samuel Flynn Scott (The Phoenix Foundation).

Made up of members of The Admiral, X-Ray Fiends, The Raw Nerves and Cool Runnings, Auckland-based 7-piece Magic Factory will serve up a heady dose of country-rock, which their bio describes as “dance music for truckers and hippies”. They’ll be joined by indie/new-wave 4-piece, Ha The Unclear, who blend off-kilter, hook driven guitar pop with slap-you-in-the-face lyrics. The band’s knack for creating thoughtful, mind-bending stories has been acclaimed by BBC Introducing (“absolutely bonkers“) and Entertainment Weekly (“fascinatingly odd“).

Gareth Thomas (Goodshirt) will also bring his endearingly quirky sound, joined by his full band. His latest album, Fizzy Milk, was described by James Belfield of The Listener as “huge, hook-laden pop songs that bounce between synths, fuzzed-up guitars, an accordion and a Wurlitzer like a cartoon computer game soundtrack”.

The show will be opened by a solo set from legendary vocalist Samuel Flynn Scott of acclaimed Wellington-based psych-folk/pop-rock act, The Phoenix Foundation.
