Here’s the blurb with details:

Pōneke-based Deva Mahal has today unveiled her stunning new R&B single ‘I Want You (For All Time)’, from her upcoming EP, FUTURE CLASSIC: VOL 1 – CLASSIC.

Deva MahalDreamy, mellow piano sits within a laid-back groove to create a classic R&B vibe, which soars to new heights with Deva’s impeccable vocals. A love song through and through, ‘I Want You (For All Time)’ encapsulates an intergalactic, interplanetary kind of love. It’s about professing lifetime love to the one you feel is your person; living with no regrets, and embracing the fear of rejection.

“‘I Want You (For All Time)’ conveys my softness and sensuality, as well as inviting you into experiencing how I envision what kind of loving connection I am interested in building,” reflects Deva. “It also defies the status quo by conveying that women of all sizes are deserving of the love that takes your breath away, that embraces and protects you and isn’t afraid to show it. That big, strong women can be soft and supple and deserve to be protected and cherished.”

Written and produced alongside Chris Wethey, the track was recorded in Deva’s bedroom and mixed by Grammy-award winning engineer Scott Jacoby.

Deva MahalThe song makes way for the release of Deva’s FUTURE CLASSIC: VOL 1 – CLASSIC , set for release on January 27 2023, and gives fans a good taste of what they can expect from the EP. “Each track on this EP is marinated with classic genres of music that inspire me and have influenced my journey as an artist.”

Unequivocally one of our most astounding recording and touring artists, Deva Mahalwas born with blues in her blood. Beginning from her upbringing in Hawaii to discovering her voice in New Zealand. Deva has spent the last few years in Aotearoa following a massive surgery and the devastating Covid-19 pandemic taking that time to delve deeper into her craft as a composer as well as cultivating her skills as a producer, alongside Christchurch born, Chris Wethey.

Her newest project (FUTURE CLASSIC: VOL 1 – CLASSIC) passionately channels into her music the staggering heartbreak of the current racial violence and political injustices of her country of origin, the eternal endeavour to search for true love and self-worth, and her emboldened sense of the sensuality, softness and power as a Black woman.
