Hemi Hemingway – Promises: 13th Floor New Song Of The Day
Hemi Hemingway (Waitaha, Ngāi Tahu, Kāti Māmoe, Te Āti Awa, Ngāti Mutunga) releases his new single Promises, a raw and emotionally charged collaboration with Georgia Gets By, offering a deeply intimate glimpse into the heart of his forthcoming album Wings of Desire, out Friday 20 February.

Written in the immediate aftermath of a breakup, ‘Promises’ captures the ache, fear and vulnerability that comes with letting go of a love that once felt impossible to live without. Leaning fully into grief and drama, Hemingway allows the song to sit unguarded in the tension between holding on and learning how to move forward.
“I couldn’t imagine my life without this love I had for this other person,” he says. “I was scared to embark upon a life without her. In some ways, the song was a promise to move through the next phase of my life with the wellbeing of our new relationship in mind.”
That emotional honesty is heightened by the presence of Georgia Gets By, whose contribution adds another layer of tenderness and weight to the track. On first hearing the song, Georgia felt an immediate pull.
“She told me she wanted to be a part of it because it was so indulgent and dramatic,” Hemingway shares.
Hemingway will celebrate the release of Wings of Desire with a special album release show at Neck of the Woods in Auckland on Friday 27 February. Tickets are available here. The show precedes significant international dates, with Hemingway set to perform at SXSW in Austin, Texas this March, followed by The Great Escape festival in Brighton, UK in May, marking a major step onto the global stage.
