Holly Wright drops Cruise – The Ultimate Song for Summer – taking her music in a new direction after a distinct period of personal and musical growth.

“I wanted to create something that captured the physical feeling of being in the summertime – cruising by the beach on a longboard, or taking a roadtrip with the windows down. I wanted it to be summer in a song and I feel I have achieved that.’

Written while in Crete, Greece, Cruise conjures up images of Greek islands, blue waters and long warm days. But this track was made specifically with the Southern Hemisphere in mind.
“Cruise is a summer song for New Zealanders and Australians who, I feel, don’t get the summer bangers from Europe or the US hitting at the right time. I wanted to create a soundtrack for summer that people can play in their cars, at their beach barbeques, or make their tik tok holiday montages to’.

Cruise was written and recorded by Holly Wright, produced by Grace Wood, and mastered by Holly Wright.

About Holly Wright:

Holly Wright is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, producer and playwright.
Born and raised in Tauranga, music has been a central element of Holly’s life since she was
Holly Wrightyoung. Moving to Auckland in 2013, Holly has been active in various areas of the performance scene – including the Pop Up Globe, Auckland City Scoundrels, and various theatre groups around the city. It wasn’t until 2018 that Holly became involved in songwriting and music production.
Since then, she has been developing her production and songwriting skills, with a few song
releases to mark the progress. But now she is firing up more than ever with the release of
‘Cruise’, multiple exciting upcoming songwriting collaborations, writing for other artists,
producing for other artists, and an affiliation with Woodcut Music.
Holly is inspired by all varieties of pop music – old and new. Some of her biggest inspirations include Zara Larsson, Julia Michaels, Abba, Loreen, Sabrina Carpenter, and Amanda Tenfjord.
Holly has also written, composed, and produced ‘Perseus the Musical’ – an ambitious two act show, with a 40 song strong soundtrack. It is set to be published in 2024.
Holly has a fierce drive when it comes to her music, always striving to make the best art
possible for the current point in time. Her music is ever evolving and growing, just as she is. She is inspired by the love for her family, and the beauty of things she sees around her.
