Interview: 13th Floor MusicTalk with Third Man Records’ Ben Blackwell
Why are we talking to Third Man Records co-founder Ben Blackwell? Because they have just found the tapes from the last show the original Stooges played at a festival in Detroit.
The Goose Lake Festival took place in August 1970 and The Stooges were on the bill with a host of other great Detroit bands including The MC5, The Frost and The Rationals.
Now, Jack White’s Third Man Records will release the long-lost recording of that show later this week. It happens to be the final show that Iggy and company played with original bass player Dave Alexander.
Watch as Third Man’s Ben Blackwell talks to The 13th Floor’s Marty Duda about those precious tapes and what else Third Man has in store for us.
