Interview: Moana Maniapoto Talks About Tōku Reo

Yesterday Moana’s new song, Tōku Reo, was our 13th Floor New Song Of The Day and, whattya know, before the day was out Moana herself was at our studio to talk about her most recent adventures.

‘Tōku Reo’ is the second single to be released from the forthcoming album from Moana & the Tribe, Ono. Here she is talking to The 13th Floor’s Marty Duda about what has gone into creating this unique series of recordings.

Along with her music, Moana is now hosting a current affairs show on Maori TV, and we get some insight into how that all is going.

“Jani is an extraordinary singer. The only direction I gave was to sing in her language and to meditate on the theme of tohi,” says Moana. “She nailed it.”
