Janine – Saved Me: 13th Floor New Song Of The Day
Award winning singer, songwriter and producer Janine has released her latest single, the gorgeous, R&B infused track Saved Me.
Here’s the blurb:
Mellow acoustic guitar sets the base for a shimming, soulful vocal performance. ‘Saved Me’ is gentle, but powerful; a sweet, stripped back love song with moody R&B undertones, telling a story of unexpectedly finding healthy love in the middle of dark times.
‘Saved Me’ is about being with someone who doesn’t pretend to heal things they can’t, but helps bring joy and support through my journey,’ reflects Janine.
“Someone who is my best friend, cheerleader and keeps me laughing. Someone who brings stability when my world is on unstable ground and helps bring out the things I love most in myself. It’s about pure, healthy love that remains consistent, even when the world around us doesn’t.”
The idea for the song came as Janine was traveling solo through Europe; experiencing so many new things, and yet amongst falling in love with the beauty of it all, she realised she was still falling more in love with her partner.
“I knew I just wanted to share everything with them,” says Janine.
“Even when everything around me was new and exciting, they were still the first thing I thought about. I had this idea pop into my head with a melody that went: “the more I see the world, the more I know that you’re all I want in it”. I sent them a message with those words and also recorded into my voice notes on my phone, while wandering around the streets in Barcelona.”
Made with support from NZ On Air, the recording for the single came together from all corners of the globe. Guitar and instrumentation were recorded in London, with Janine recording her own vocals in her apartment in LA. Mixed by Grammy-winning engineer Erik Madrid at Sonic Element Studio, LA, it was then mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer Chris Gehringer at Stringling Sound in New York.
Today’s release is the second single to come from Janine’s forthcoming album, following the soulful track ‘If I Call’, which hit #14 on the Hot 20 NZ Singles Chart and received huge support from local media including The Edge, Mai FM and Sniffers.
Her early success as Janine and the Mixtape saw her based in the States and touring heavily, making waves across the globe. These days, simply known as Janine, the multi-talented artist has chalked up a list of spectacular accolades, including tens of millions of streams on Spotify alone.
‘Saved Me’ gives fans a taste of what’s to come from Janine on her upcoming album, with the promise of a tempo change for the next single. As she says, “it’s a small piece of what’s to come from me creatively. The next song is going to be a big switch up from this in terms of vibe and energy levels. But as always, it will keep the same honesty and openness in terms of my songwriting.”
