Myah Eve – Layers: 13th Floor New Song Of The Day

Imagine if Marina & the Diamonds or Sia sang over Joji’s soundscapes, this is the haunting new single Layers from dark-pop artist Myah Eve.

Here is the blurb with more:

Layers is an ethereal and cinematic dream pop ballad that lives in the space where hurt and healing meet. At its heart, the song is about the love of having someone who stays beside you in your darkest moments.

“I grew up feeling invisible and like I didn’t truly matter,” says Myah. “This song is about the powerful feeling of someone truly loving you unconditionally.”

With soaring, emotive vocals, praised by Fazerdaze, who said, “You command the audience with your vocals, Myah! Wow” and production that recalls Joji and early Tate McRaeLayers unfolds with quiet intention. It builds slowly, moving from delicate intimacy to a sweeping, cathartic release. The result is a track made for slow midnight drives, windows down, letting the sound wash over you.

Originally written and produced by Myah as a demo, the song was reproduced in collaboration with fellow SOLE alumnus Liam Crawford, whose rhythmic and textural choices gave the track its dynamic edge. The single was mastered by Benny Tones.

Born and raised in Tāmaki Makaurau, Myah has been immersed in music since childhood, writing songs from the age of 11, performing in choirs, and later completing a diploma in Electronic Music Production at SAE. In 2024 she relocated to Ōtautahi to join SOLE Music Academy’s Artist Development Programme, where she was mentored by Sacha Vee.

To reflect the track’s intimacy, Myah created a live music video through the support of the Bronwyn Bijl Scholarship from Ōtautahi’s The Piano, a world-class performing arts centre  who are championing emerging artists.

Filmed in the Philip Carter Family Concert Hall, the performance brought together pianist William Kao, a string quartet, and dancers from Silhouette Dance Studios under the choreography of Kate Limuloa. Flowing fabric serves as a metaphor for peeling back layers of self, while visuals styled by Kate Stacey and captured by Theo Vila weave shadowy cinematic blues with bold red silhouettes, mirroring the song’s emotional intensity. Myah extends special thanks to Marcus Norman, director of The Piano, for his unwavering support.

“The visuals had to feel as raw and unmasked as the song itself,” says Myah. “I want my audience to feel seen and understood when they experience Layers….whether it reminds them of someone who truly knows them, or encourages them to embrace their own layers.”

Following her 2025 releases Survive and SlowLayers, her third single for the year, stands apart as Myah’s most intimate work to date and is now out on all streaming platforms, accompanied by the Layers Live Music Video set to be released next week.
