New Song Of The Day: Fruit Juice Parade – the more you don’t know the less you know
This just in! And just in time for breakfast (or morning tea) is Fruit Juice Parade from Wellington with The More You Don’t Know The Less You Know.
Just released, this dreamy new tune will appear on the duo’s next EP, the more you question, the further you get from the answer. to be released on Friday March 26th. Here’s the record company blurb with details:
Wellington two-piece fruit juice parade are back with the follow-up to their debut EP the more you don’t know the less you know. The lead single of the new EP, out today, is confoundingly titled the same: the more you don’t know the less you know.
Written as the band were in their last year of high school, the song is deeply embedded in that familiar moment of promise and nostalgia. Recalling the context of the opening line, ‘What’s left for me in this room? I’ve slept inside and gazed around‘, lyricist Tharushi explained, “I’m alone in the classroom where I took Year 13 English, it’s summer, so the cicadas are whirring and I’m dozing after a long last year of school.” the more you don’t know the less you know is about leaving the relative safety and security of your hometown, high school and living at home and entering adulthood. It’s a band favourite because “it feels like closure to high-school.”
Though Shannen (guitar, vocals) and Tharushi (drums, vocals) have been quiet as fruit juice parade for a couple of years, they have been busy playing in other bands and with their own solo projects (Queen’s Cup, Sports Dreams, Shannen Georgia Petersen, Museum Stork). They are stoked to release this first single today from their sophomore EP the more you question, the further you get from the answer., which was recorded and mixed by Jesse Austin-Stewart at the new Massey studios in Wellington. The photo series and cover art were taken by Lily West (of Mermaidens).
the more you don’t know the less you know is available to stream and buy on all services, and the more you question, the further you get from the answer. can be pre-ordered from Bandcamp now.
