New Song Of The Day: Mema Wilda – How I Long
Here’s a little something to get your Sunday started…its a new single from Auckland’s Mema Wilda titled How I Long.
We caught Mema and her band last night at Anthology Lounge so lookout for a review and photos. Meanwhile enjoy the new single…here’s the record company blurb:
Mema Wilda continues to turn heads on the New Zealand music scene with her distinctive brand of psychedelic folk with her new single, How I Long.
With an ever-growing party of loyal fans, Mema is without doubt making her mark. Her debut single, Blue, was picked up by Bass FM for their Turn It Up 2020 Compilation album.
Once again produced by Mitch French of Black Dog Recording Studio, How I Long is a more up-tempo track which is perfect for radio and will certainly have very broad appeal.
Beginning with a waterfall of raw, emotional lyrics and a heavy rhythmic heartbeat, How I Long, drives through an array of soulful drum grooves and beautiful striking melodies. Mema reveals that track was written during a specific event in her life but says, ‘I’d like ‘How I Long’ to be felt from the listener’s perspective and not be given a particular direction from my experience. Anyone who hears the track will have their own interpretation of what it’s about’.
