Otherwoman – Circles: 13th Floor New Song Of The Day

Otherwoman are excited to announce their new single, the genre-redefining Circles.

Here is the blurb with more:

After bursting on to the scene with Who Is The Otherwoman, a collector’s CD which debuted at number 6 on the Aotearoa album charts, accompanied by a sold-out release show, Otherwoman follow up with the long anticipated streaming release of their latest single: Circles.

The second single off their upcoming album Lilith, Circles has already been released in various unconventional forms, as the band fights to uncouple from industry dominating giants such as Spotify. Purchasers of the hugely successful limited edition CD “Who Is The Otherwoman” will already be familiar with “Circles”, as it was included as an exclusive pre-release feature on the CD’s tracklist. Those who missed the CD’s run will be excited to learn they will soon be able to stream the single for themselves on all platforms.

Circles is a pained lament on addiction, mental illness, being trapped in spirals, and the tendency of both personal, and world history to repeat itself. An experimental blend between indie rock and trap metal, that harkens back to early 2000s nu-metal, while also redefining the genre for the 2020s, this track is Otherwoman’s latest edition to a catalogue that proves to cement the group as trailblazers in an increasingly homogenising musical landscape.

Listen to Circles on Bandcamp here, and stream it on all platforms.

About Otherwoman:

In an industry plagued by convention and tradition, aptly named alt-rap threesome Otherwoman aim to rock the boat, turn heads, and provoke pearl-clutching with sex-positive, anti-establishment, existentialist raps, interwoven with earworm choruses and choir-like harmonies, delivered over grungy, guitar-heavy tracks.

The three artists that make up Otherwoman have all found previous success in their solo ventures; with TAMiii opening for JMSN at his recent Auckland show, Taimana’s blend of indie-rock instrumentation and hip-hop production being highly coveted across all genres in the underground scene; and day13n’s Palestine fundraiser events gaining recognition from the likes of Rolling Stone, but through frequent collaboration, experimentation, and blending of their vastly differing musical disciplines, TAMiii, day13n, and Taimana ultimately unlocked a sound unlike any of their contemporaries; and Otherwoman was born.

The group’s name — which coincidentally shares its definition with the similarly genre-defying, woman-lead band Paramore — was born from common experiences surrounding infidelity, mistrust, a search for belonging, and feelings of being “othered”.

While Otherwoman may consist of three vastly different artists, from wildly diverse upbringings that span the globe from Canada, to South Africa, to Aotearoa, they’re connected by an experience so innately human, so universally shared, that its prevalence in their music is sure to resonate with any, and all who listen: that deep, unshakeable desire to belong.

Following up from a groundbreaking entrance, as this group burst onto the scene with their first single “Existential Crisis”, and Number 6 charting CD “Who Is The Otherwoman”, Otherwoman continue their robust rollout, and touring schedule, with their second single “Circles” on May 31st, before ultimately leading to the release of their debut album “Lilith” in the spring of 2025.
