Phil Lesh of The Grateful Dead Has Died At The Age of 84: R.I.P.
Phil Lesh, bass player and a founding member of The Grateful Dead has died at age 84, “surrounded by his family and full of love,” according to a statement shared on his official Instagram page.
Phil joined the band back in 1965 when they were called The Warlocks. They became The Grateful Dead by the end of ’65, with Jerry Garcia leading them on that long, strange trip until his death in 1995. Since then Lesh and various bandmate kept the spirit alive with various bands and various configurations. He and his fellow bandmates were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 1994.
