Punk It Up Returns!

Back by popular demand, New Zealand’s new and classic punk acts are getting ready to do it again, kicking off New Zealand Music Month with a 2 night extravaganza. Once again it’ll be at NZ’s birthplace of punk, Zwines , or more correctly – The Bluestone Room in Auckland’s CBD on Friday May 1st and Saturday May 2nd.

Punk It Up V will feature artists from both the “good old days” (before your XBox and the internet), when going out to see a band was about the only way you would hear them, combined with bands from the “good new days”, currently slogging the pubs, clubs, school halls, and friend’s living room scene (but who have their music on the streaming interwebs thingy the kids use nowadays). Both Friday and Saturday night will be full-on blasts of Short Haired Rock and Roll!

As well as the usual suspects, there’s a few surprises in store as well, with artists who haven’t played in Auckland, or NZ for that matter, for quite some time. Put all that together with a massive lineup of DJs playing everything from punk to ska to reggae and anything else they want to, in between the bands (and late into the night at both night’s after parties), information booths from some worthy causes, and the myriad of vendors plying their wares, like band t-shirts and records etc etc, and you have a night, or in this case 2 nights, that you’ll remember for a very very long time.

Therefore, while they’re finishing off the negotiations with all the interested bands for Punk It Up V, the PIU crew thought it would be good to offer the Earlybirds a Holiday Special for a limited time.

A specially priced pass for both nights will be available up until Dec 25 for “a couple of pints worth” less than the cost of 2 single nights, but after that date, you’ll only be able to get the single night tickets.
