R.I.P. Dr. John
His real name was Mac Rebennack, but everyone knew him as Dr. John. Now, the New Orleans legend is dead, aged 77.
The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee passed away after suffering a heart attack. Dr John began making records and playing in New Orleans bars in the late 1950s. He eventually became a valuted session cat before launching his own solo career in 1968. His biggest hit was 1973’s Right Place, Wrong Time, but that was only the tip of the iceberg as far as Dr. John’s musical output.
