R.I.P. Florian Schneider (Kraftwerk)
We are sad to report another death of another very influential musician…Florian Schneider, a founding member of Kraftwerk, has died, age 73, from cancer.
Florian Schneider began working with Ralf Hutter in the late 1960s. By 1974 they had formed German electronic band Kraftwerk, with two other members, and their Autobahn album and single had caused millions of music fans to re-think what modern music could sound like.
David Bowie was particularly inspired by Kraftwerk as his trio of Berlin-recorded albums (Low, Heroes, Lodger) would attest. Conversely, the gents in Kraftwerk were listening intently to Bowie’s Station To Station album.
