R.I.P. Lee “Scratch” Perry has died age 85
Lee “Scratch” Perry, pioneering roots, dub and reggae producer has died at age 85.
Keith Richards called him “the Salvador Dali of music”. Lee Perry worked with, produced and recorded hundreds of classic tracks, many of them in his studio “The Black Ark”, which he burned down in 1983.
Perry’s accomplishments are impressive to say the least having worked with everyone from Bob Marley to Paul McCartney. His house band, The Upsetters, was formidable.
