R.I.P. Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac)
One of music’s most influential and enigmatic guitarists, Peter Green, has died at the age of 73.
Peter Green formed Fleetwood Mac with drummer Mick Fleetwood in 1967 after leaving John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers where he had replaced Eric Clapton.
With his star on the rise Green and Fleetwood Mac quickly became a force to be reckoned with producing a string of albums and singles that still inspire fans and guitarists to this day including Albatross, Black Magic Woman, Man Of The World and Oh Well.
But Peter Green’s life began to fall apart as the 1960s came to an end as he suffered schizophrenia and eventually left the band in 1970. A sporadic solo album or two followed along with a few live shows but Peter Green’s legacy was cemented thanks to the songs and the records he created during his brief tenure with Fleetwood Mac.

Grateful thanks to Peter Noble & Bluesfest Touring for bringing Peter Green & Friends to Au for 5 sets at Easter 2010,which included 2 at Byron Bay where he sat on his stool and under the guidance of band leader Mike Dodd, played us some of those wonderful tunes from the past.John Mayall also toured for that Festival & they were pictured together at Melbourne Airport.I am in the prefer Green to Clapton camp & A Hard Road is my fav Bluesbreakers album.Mick Fleetwood is a gentleman, sublime musician/band leader who has & will continue to preserve Peter’s legacy. If you ever get a chance to see The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, you will hear some of those tunes played superbly.
