R.I.P. Roky Erickson
Roky Erickson, legendary leader of Texas psychedelic band The Thirteenth Floor Elevators has died, age 71.
The Elevators split in 1969 after Roky was busted for a single joint and eventually sent to a state mental hospital for four years where they performed electroshock therapy on him. After his release in 1974, Roky continued making music, most of it, such as songs like I Walked With A Zombie and Two-Headed Dog, very good, although it was clear that Roky was damaged.
The surviving members of The Thirteenth Floor Elevators reunited in 2015.
So long Roky, we’re gonna miss you!!
