Sam Charlesworth – Are You OK? – 13th Floor New Song Of The Day

From Dunedin, Sam Charlesworth  returns with a message both timely and timeless. In a world moving faster than ever, the simplest questions often carry the most weight….Are You Okay?

Here is the blurb with more:

Are You Okay? marks the second release in 2025 from the Dunedin-based Singer/Songwriter, following on from his chart topping single Heaven Knows, and with it comes the same emotionally charged authenticity and lyrical prowess. More than just a song, Are You Okay? is an ode to vulnerability, honesty, and the quiet strength it takes to truly check in—with others, and with ourselves. In an age of constant connection, Are You Okay? is a reminder of the importance of intentional connection: the kind that holds space, listens deeply, and acknowledges the shared complexities of being human. Set against a backdrop of emotive production and raw, honest vocals, the song invites listeners into a deeply personal yet universal moment. It asks not just for a reply, but for reflection—on compassion, presence, and the courage it takes to be real, whilst simultaneously exploring the disillusionment of growing up.

Are You Okay? is a reminder to slow down, to ask, to care, and to feel. It’s a tribute to the quiet bravery of checking in—with ourselves, and with the people we love.” — Sam Charlesworth

The track was recorded at Selwynn College (a university hall of residence) in Ōtepoti whilst Sam was in his first year of study. The track features him playing the entire arrangement, as well as both mixing and mastering the single. The single cover was shot down the hill from Sam’s flat in St Clair, Dunedin, by Riley Smith.

The accompanying music video was shot by visual artist Riley Smith and Cinematographer Ryan Dombroski in and around the beautiful St Clair, Ōtepoti Dunedin following Sam on his daily morning walk, giving you a glimpse of his world.
